Lon Seymour is a long time art educator and artist with years of experience.  He began as a Fine Art high school teacher in Jefferson County, Colorado and later became the District Coordinator of Art in that same county.  He also worked in the non-profit sector as the Executive Director for the Arts Education Equity Network, a Program funded by the National Endowment for the Arts and the The Colorado Council. Lon worked in higher education as the Coordinator of Art Education at Metropolitan State College of Denver and as Vice President for Academic Affairs at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design.  He later became the Chairman of the Art Education Department at Rocky Mountain where he assisted in the accreditation process as well as teaching classes in Foundations.  Lon has also been an instructor at Community College of Denver and Regis University.

His many awards include 1995 Colorado Art Educator of the Year, 1992 Marion Quinn Dix Leadership award from the National Art Education Association, and 1988 Arts Administrator of the Year in Colorado.  A long time member of CAEA – Colorado Arts Education Association, his roles have included Treasurer, President, and Vice President.  Lon has also served on the Board of the Colorado Alliance for Arts Education and as the Chairman for Colorado Association of Visual Art Administrators.  He has authored a variety of art education materials and articles as well as a few works of fiction which tell tall tales about the City of Denver, the Beatles, Wyandotte Indians, and wild art teachers.
